The performance basketball market has been dominated by both Nike and Jordan Brand over the last decade-plus with the likes of adidas trailing behind. Not only have the two leaders in this segment of the market signed the top stars but have crafted sneakers that appeal to both on and off-the-court wear. Looking to respond to the years of being behind, adidas unveiled a series of performance basketball silhouettes and colorways during NBA All-Star Weekend with a spiritual successor Kobe’s adidas Crazy line receiving a detailed look - the adidas Crazy IIInfinity.
Obviously taking inspiration from the adidas Crazy 1 (and looking somewhat similar to the previously previewed adidas Crazy New Era), the adidas Crazy IIInfinity takes key features from the original silhouette and updates its design to the modern day. Rubberized portions on the toe add reinforcement and remind one of a classic shelltoe as it features various Three Stripes branding details while the majority of the upper comes in a foam material. The lacing comes covered by a zipper-laden shroud with the tongue and collar portions receiving a thick mesh makeover. For the multiple colorways previewed, we see a slew of neutral tones in light and grey hues. This color palette does remind one of a Fear Of God collection and rightfully so as Jerry Lorenzo was at one point tasked with running the entire adidas Basketball line (though he has since come forward to state he is strictly focused on his Fear Of God Athletics line). Rounding out the design is a rubber outsole featuring a herringbone traction pattern.
The adidas Crazy IIInfinity is set to release in 2023 through adidas and select Three Stripes retailers online and in-store. As of now, the sizing and pricing information is TBA.
