The adidas Forum, a silhouette that debuted in 1984, has undergone a remarkable transformation since its revival in 2020, emerging as a prominent figure in adidas' diverse sneaker lineup. In its latest iteration, the Forum Mid is set to captivate the sneaker community with a design that pays homage to the vibrant spirit of Caribbean carnivals. As part of adidas' Mas Nation collection, the Forum Mid Carnival is more than just a sneaker—it's a celebration of Caribbean culture and the festive energy of carnival season.
This special edition has been crafted under the guidance of renowned Caribbean designer Anya Ayoung-Chee, who worked closely with students from adidas' School for Experiential Education Design (S.E.E.D.). Their collaborative efforts have resulted in a design that reflects the exuberance of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival and showcases the creative potential of the S.E.E.D. program. The adidas Forum Mid Carnival stands out with its eye-catching faux snakeskin leather in a shimmering gold tone, beautifully juxtaposing the lively patterns adorning the tongue and heel counter.
Beneath this striking gold leather lies a layer of gold mesh, subtly hiding the dynamic patterns of the base layer. The shoe features the iconic adidas branding on the lockdown strap, while the tongue tag proudly bears the Mas Nation logo, signifying its association with the collection. On the medial side, a special tag commemorates the School for Experiential Education Design, and the insole is adorned with a co-branded logo of adidas and S.E.E.D., further emphasizing the collaborative nature of this project.
The design is completed with a semi-translucent clear midsole, accented with orange contrast stitching and aqua blue adidas branding on the heel. To add an extra touch of flair, the midsole and outsole are sprinkled with gold flakes, reminiscent of the glitter and glamour typical of carnival celebrations.
The adidas Forum Mid Carnival will release on February 1, 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
