Indeed, at the zenith of their popularity, the adidas Gazelle Indoor releases in new colorways every month. Developed inline by the Classics team at adidas Originals HQ in Herzogenaurach, the silhouette was first designed in the early 1980s. Indoor sports were, and still are, a considerable part of these markets. More than just the NBA can fill arenas, and The Brand With The Three Stripes has always focused on the practicality and functionality of their footwear and designed to enhance athletic performance in whatever circumstances the athlete may be found. Created with the adaptation of an already established model, the Gazelle Indoor became an instant crowd favorite and has continued to be ever since, with collaborative takes from Sean Wotherspoon, Kith, and Gucci, casting the spotlight firmly on the storied silhouette.
With the Gucci partnership in mind, the design team approached these new iterations. Two-tone finishes are used to capture the essence of the changing seasons' aesthetics successfully. All three pairs are constructed with suede uppers and nubuck overlays to the T-toe areas and lacestay. Hues of Maroon and Preloved Crimson adorn one pair, Earth Strata and Magic Beige on another, while the final pair in the pack is finished in Collegiate Purple and Shadow Violet. All three are contrasted by cloud white leather on the back heel tabs, sockliner, and Three Stripes branding on the sides. Gold foil branding denotes the Gazelle moniker, while dimpled tongues, as is traditional for the shoe, all sit atop gum soles to complete the look.
The adidas Gazelle Indoor Collegiate Purple was released on September 1, 2024, while Maroon and Earth Strata dropped on September 3. They are available at adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $120.
