Fresh for Holiday 2024, the adidas Handball Spezial Cordura Cardboard will be a favorite for the colder weather ahead. After being a highlight of successful collaborations with Sporty & Rich, Maharishi, and Solebox, the adidas classic is as popular as ever.
First launched in 1979, the adidas Handball Spezial was, as its name implied, for Handball and indoor sports. The increased traction from the rubber cupsole provided a superior grip to everything else on the market. By the mid-eighties, the sneaker had transcended from indoor courts to outside pavements, becoming fashionable streetwear. A firm favorite with those attending soccer matches on the weekend, the handful of colorways available were a regular sight on terraces across the globe. Over four decades later, the design has stood the test of time, with many color palettes making them a perennial bestseller and an ever-constant on retailer's shelves. The utilization of the advanced fabrics that Cordura offers has become a staple with the Handball Spezial, and nobody is complaining.
The adidas Handball Spezial Cordura Cardboard is presented in a two-tone aesthetic, with cardboard and crystal sand covering the upper. Cordura nylon gives better resistance to the weather, along with durability improvements to safeguard against rips and tears. Suede overlays appear at the heel, lace stay, and T-toe, with leather covering the Three Stripes branding on the sides and lining. A Cordura label hangs off the heel, with Spezial and a small Trefoil logo denoted in gold foil along the lateral side stripes. A dark gum-colored rubber sole underfoot completes the look.
The adidas Handball Spezial Cordura Cardboard will release in Holiday 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $130. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app for updates on the latest from adidas and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
