February 2023 saw adidas showcase the new direction for the brand’s basketball division with a renewed interest in archival designs that looked towards the future. Part of this unveiling was the Crazy IIInfinity model, which draws inspiration from Kobe Bryant’s Crazy 1. This modern-day take on the retro model also has some other cousins on the way, as what debuted during this showcase as the adidas SUPERTEAM 2000 S has been unveiled via official images as the adidas Mad IIInfinity.
The adidas Mad IIInfinity Core Black is a striking silhouette with a sleek and versatile aesthetic, suitable for the court and the streets. Where the Crazy IIInfinity parallels the adidas Crazy 1, this model is more in line with the followup to OG, the Crazy 2. The design combines a variety of materials, including supple leather, resilient neoprene, and breathable mesh, to create a sneaker that is as functional as it is visually appealing. Accenting the all-black look is a 3M reflective TPU film along the midfoot overlay, adding a dynamic element to the shoe's appearance.
Attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the sneaker, from the perforated dots on the toe cap to the neoprene cover with a vibrant blue adidas Three Stripes logo. The same branding and color scheme for the Three Stripes extends to the heel tab, creating a cohesive and instantly recognizable look. The Mad IIInfinity is rounded off with an advanced EVA-cushioned foam midsole, offering unparalleled comfort and support, while the robust black rubber outsole ensures durability and traction.
The adidas Mad IIInfinity Core Black will release on February 15, 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $180.
