Though adidas is often looking to various European locations for its infamous City Series, it appears the German-based sportswear giant is crossing the Atlantic for an upcoming collection of state-themed silhouettes. While in the past we have seen The Three Stripes tackle Alaska and Nevada, adidas is heading to the mid-west for an Illinois-themed colorway that pays homage to the state's infamous prairies.
Coming covered in a light sky blue-like shade across its suede upper, the silhouette gets accented by earth-tone leather and rubber throughout the rest of its design. These suede panels take over the mudguard, toebox, midfoot, eyestays, and tongue while we see the heel tab, sockliner, and Three Stripes branding come in beige leather. Sitting just above where the white lace set rests is an adidas-branded “Prairie” tag that features a graphic of a wheat plant in its center. One extra nod to the region is hidden on the insole as a graphic representing the iconic Route 66 highway and the city of Chicago is present. Rounding out the design is the gum rubber midsole and outsole.
The adidas Prairie State Series Illinois is set to release on March 22nd, 2023 through select EU retailers online and in-store while a stateside release is planned for later in 2023. Launching in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
