A returning classic gets a modern update with the adidas Radlander EQT GTX. Arriving fresh off the release of the Radlander Moc Wonder Beige and Radlander EQT Cardboard, more news trickles down the vine about the latest iteration, a Gore-Tex edition.
The shoe began life as the Badlander EQT, but the starting letter has been changed nearly three decades later. That is pretty much the only change, as the shoe has been recrafted 1:1, working directly from a vintage pair that adidas was able to acquire. The biggest challenge to overcome was scanning the original pair and making new molds, as the tooling is incredibly complex and features Feet You Wear technology that adidas licensed during the 1990s from Frampton Ellis. The FYW tech was designed to include natural curves and slants where only right-degree angles had existed before, being more comfortable for the wearer and also helping prevent injuries when used in performance footwear.
With the weather ready to take a turn for the worse, the Radlander EQT GTX is enveloped in an entire Triple Black color palette. The upper is constructed of premium nubuck, and as the name of the shoe suggests, they feature the famous Gore-Tex waterproof membrane that is sure to keep your feet dry. The highlight of the design, the flap that shrouds the tongue and lace cover, is also daubed in black. EQT branding appears on the tongue tag, while the face of Feet You Wear Freddy, the FYW mascot, can be spotted on the midsole. There is stamped branding on the medial panel alongside a visible Gore-Tex label, and 3M reflective details are applied across the shoe.
The adidas Radlander EQT GTX Core Black will release in October 2024 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $200. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app for updates on the latest from adidas and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
