Variety is the spice of life, so they say, which is evidenced here with the new adidas Samba OG Tweed Pack. After such an illustrious history, the adidas Samba gained viral attention last year, being crowned the Shoe Of The Year for 2023 and achieving peak popularity only afforded to the most sought-after products. This newfound popularity surprised the general public and diehard sneakerheads in some places worldwide, like the UK. For years, decades even, the Samba has been freely available on shelves there, often at heavily discounted prices.
The revival and resurgence of the silhouette has been something to behold, and with it taking place on such a global scale, it will be studied for generations to come by fashion and business students. For adidas, it wasn't expected that so much of the lost Yeezy revenue would be immediately replaced by a shoe that, in this form, they had been selling since 1972. And even after all that time and the plethora of iterations since, they are still finding new ways to mix it up and give the shoe a fresh look.
Both pairs in the adidas Samba OG Tweed Pack feature uppers constructed from the famous Harris Tweed of Scotland that has been sourced by the inline team at adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach, with nubuck overlays being used for the lace stay and toe guard. The herringbone pattern of the tweed presents different tones; one pair is in hues of wonder beige, subtly contrasted by shadow brown Three Stripes on the sides and heel, featuring a wonder white decal upon the tongue. They sit atop a dark gum sole to finish the design. The accompanying pair in the pack sees an upper adorned in dark brown tweed; again, the herringbone pattern is visible, and multiple colors are intertwined. The Three Stripes on the sides and the heel tab are applied using cloud-white leather. A gum-colored tongue tag is visible, with the shoe finished by a matching colored sole
The adidas Samba OG Tweed Pack is set to release on September 5, 2024. They will be available via adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $150.
