The adidas Samba Puig sees French skateboarder Lucas Puig teaming up with adidas once again to continue a long-term partnership. The skateboarding branch of The Brand With The Three Stripes has grown from strength to strength in the last couple of years. High-profile collabs with POP Trading Company, Dime, Kader Sylla, and Tyshawn Jones are just some of the highlights; and it was a previous collection released between adidas, Puig, and UK-based skate and streetwear giant Palace that brought this adidas Samba Puig model to the forefront.
Lucas Puig first rose to prominence as a 14-year-old, recruited by the gone-but-not-forgotten brand Cliché. He went on to star in the infamous skate video Bon Appetit, with his reputation only continuing to grow in leaps and bounds since then. Puig has been part of the adidas team for over a decade and has numerous signature silhouettes for the brand. He signed with Palace in 2017, and while Palace may be leaving adidas soon and going to team up with Nike in 2026, the Frenchman shows no sign of following his sponsors’ footsteps with this offering of the adidas Samba Puig.
Constructed from smooth cloud white leather, the adidas Samba Puig Cloud White Core Black features nubuck accents to the T-toe panel that immediately give this shoe a classy vibe. With the Three Stripes on the sides and the heel finished in core black leather, the colorblocking is instantly recognizable. A ribbed tongue, again in core black, carries Trefoil branding in white. The sole is where the magic happens; gum-colored rubber tooling is designed to cradle the upper as a cup sole; this is for giving better control, traction, and grip, perfect for skateboarders. adidas branding is applied to the lateral of the midsole, Samba in gold on the sides, and the signature Puig pyramid-esque finish to the rear of the heel.
The adidas Samba Puig Cloud White Core Black is set to release on August 1, 2024, via adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $100.
