Detailed Look at the Air Jordan 1 High 85 Metallic UNC PE

The University of North Carolina is no stranger to receiving some of the best player-exclusive sneakers from Jordan Brand, as the school is where Michael Jordan honed his craft before entering the NBA. In addition to the recent string of Air Jordan 4 PEs that colleges nationwide have received, the school also received an Air Jordan 1 High 85 Metallic UNC PE that has now found its way online.
During the Air Jordan 1’s original run in 1985 and 1986, Nike released a series of “metallic” colorways that paired an all-white smooth leather AJ 1 High with colorful metallic accents on the collar underlay and the Swoosh. These have returned multiple times over the years, most recently with the Jordan 1 High 85 Metallic Burgundy, but this pair pictured here adds UNC’s famous blue shade to the mix for the first time. Here, we see the ‘85 Air Jordan 1 High shape, the closest recreation to the original 1985 rendition of the Air Jordan 1, with white leather making up most of the upper.
UNC’s colors are applied to the metallic Swoosh, collar underlay, and the Jordan Wings logo stamped on the collar. No UNC branding is found on the upper, though more of the blue hue lands on the Nike Air text on the tongue tag and the sockliner. The white rubber midsole and a UNC blue rubber outsole finish the sneaker.
The Air Jordan 1 High 85 Metallic UNC PE will not be released.
