While every collector is looking to secure OG colorways of the AJ 1, mostly the high top variant, Jordan Brand looks to feed the masses with easy-to-wear Jordan 1 Lows as they have become more and more fashionable as of late. Many of the colorways assigned to the low-top borrow from classic and sought-after high-top releases, though the latest release gets inspired by a trip MJ took to Japan back in 1996 with the Air Jordan 1 Low SE "Tokyo Vintage."
Taking on details like the snakeskin-like leathers of the AJ 12, the silhouette comes with a white suede on the underlay with grey and university blue leather overlays throughout. The latter of the two colors appears on the mudguard and bottommost eyestay while grey appears on the top eyestay, snakeskin Nike Swoosh, and heel overlay. Cream laces run up the vintage, almost pinkish tongue towards the exposed foam edges and Jumpman branding while the Wings logo on the heel comes in deeper yellow, aiding the old-school look. Underfoot, a cream midsole with contrasting stitching details gets paired with a university blue rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 Low Tokyo Vintage is scheduled to release on March 25th, 2023 in Japan through atmos and Tokyo 23 while a wider global release through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store is still up in the air. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120 USD.
