Jordan Brand partners with a wide array of NCAA programs, with HBCUs becoming a focus in recent years. This partnership includes the historic Howard University, which just signed a 20-year deal with JB in 2022, meaning we’ll see plenty of exclusives over the next two decades. One pair previewed in 2023 was the school’s AJ 1 Retro Low OG, which followed the same design motifs as other NCAA programs affiliated with Jordan Brand, like UNC and Oklahoma. As part of the Holiday 2024 lineup, which already includes pairs like the Jordan 9 Olive, Jordan 3 Black Cement Reimagined, and Jordan 6 Bred, Jordan Brand is giving the world a shot at owning a Howard-themed Jordan 1 Low OG.
Seen here in on-foot imagery from Nike, the sneaker comes with midnight navy hues on the leather mudguard, eyestays, and Swoosh. White lands on the toebox and midfoot panel while the laces and tongue take on a sail shade. Nike Air branding is present on the tongue tag in red, matching the same color as the heel overlays. Underfoot sits a muslin rubber midsole paired with a midnight navy rubber outsole. Based on these images, there is no visible Howard branding, though it's still possible that the Bison's logo lands on the insole.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Howard will release on October 12, 2024, through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
