The newest Air Jordan 3 colorway has potential to be a massive sleeper. If you would’ve told us in 2020 that the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Black Cat” would be fetching almost $1K on the resale market in just two short years then, “we don’t believe you, you need more people” (Hov). But here we are in 2022 and that is the reality we live in. There are plenty of other sneakers that have been released in this century alone that fall under this category, such as the AJ 3 “Mocha,” AJ 9 “Olive,” and 90% of GR Nike SB Dunks. While some don’t care about the value and want the shoe to wear, life happens sometimes. We might not be able to cop every pair we want when it releases so we take a risk, either go into the red and buy the shoe when it drops if you can or, the possibility of FOMO.
One thing we can tell you is that you don’t want to experience FOMO in regards to the upcoming Air Jordan 3 Retro “Dark Iris.” Featuring a vibe that mimics the classic Air Jordan 11 “Concord” as well as the upcoming Air Jordan 5 it's inspired by, this AJ 3 keeps things simple and clean with OG style colorblocking and materials. White covers the majority of the upper, while elephant print is found in its usual places. Finishing this pair off are dark iris purple accents, black branding on the tongue and back heel, as well as the lining, and a solid grey outsole.
Originally expected to release in June and then in July, the Air Jordan 3 Retro Dark Iris is now set to officially release on August 24th, 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select Jordan Brand retailers worldwide, both in-store and online. Coming in full-family sizing, men’s pairs will retail for $200.
