Being born from performance basketball, Jordan Brand often inserts itself in popular tournaments and leagues around the world, from Quai54 in Paris to the streets of Bejing with the annual Sunset Dongdan streetball tournament. While the former of the two gets a wide variety of Air Jordan silhouettes in its honor every year, Dongdan saw its first celebratory pair with the AJ 6 Low last summer. This year, however, with Jordan Brand’s 25th Anniversary in China being celebrated across various silhouettes, the Air Jordan 37 is representing both the milestone birthday and the yearly tournament itself as detailed imagery of this year's “Dongdan” pair has been revealed.
Combining the tech specs of the Air Jordan 36 and iconic details from the OG AJ 7, the AJ 37 Dongdan adds sunset-like details across its Leno-Weave upper with a marbled purple and orange gradient featured throughout. Black accents along the iridescent mudguard, tongue, collar, and heel allow the colorful upper to shine with gilded accents appearing via the topmost eyestays, the Dongdan logo atop the tongue, and Jumpman branding back on the heel. Underfoot, a black midsole featuring a full-length Zoom Strobel unit and Formula 23 injected into the heel is paired with a purple and yellow rubber outsole that takes design cues from the AJ 7.
The Air Jordan 37 Dongdan is slated to release in 2022 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers exclusively in China. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is TBA.
