Jordan Brand has always celebrated its associations with global basketball talents, and the Chinese basketball sensation Guo Ailun has undoubtedly been a significant part of this narrative since singing with JB in 2017. Over the years, he has donned personalized versions of the iconic Air Jordan line, marking a special legacy with each model. Fresh off the debut of the Jordan 38 this summer, Guo Ailun has redesigned the model, a testament to the player's undying passion for the game and his deep-rooted association with Jordan Brand.
Guo Ailun's Air Jordan 38, while bearing the signature elements of leather, textile, mesh, and neoprene, stands out in its color palette. Adorned in a pristine white, the shoe sees accents in jade ice and clear jade, evoking a sense of elegance and dynamism. The toe and eyestays are enveloped in leather, while the midfoot reveals a textile touch. Intricately designed patterns on the collar and heel are reminiscent of Michael Jordan's awe-inspiring stats during the 1993 NBA Championship, with 41 cross stitches symbolizing his incredible 41 PPG averages. The tongue differentiation is evident with the Jumpman logo on the right sneaker and Guo's distinct logo on the left. A special touch lies within the left sneaker, featuring the Chinese inscription "心之所向,身之所往", resonating the mantra, "Wherever the heart goes, the body goes". This sentiment echoes across Guo's previous personal editions, notably the Air Jordan 33. The shoe is anchored with an AJ38 midsole in jade ice, clear jade hues, and a harmonious rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 38 Guo Ailun will release Holiday 2023 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
