The Howard Bisons Get Their Own Air Jordan 4 Retro PE

Last week, Jordan Brand-affiliated NCAA athletic programs began to receive their latest Air Jordan Retro PE, the Air Jordan 4. First to share their pair was the University of North Carolina, Michael Jordan’s alma matter. According to Kelsey Amy, a former Jordan Brand designer who helped create the blueprint for these PEs with her First Class WNBA Air Jordan 4, their pair is “not even second best” compared to the other schools on the list. Next to be revealed, albeit not through official channels, is Howard University’s Air Jordan 4 Retro First Class PE.

While Kelsey revealed that, in her opinion, the Howard University version of this AJ4 First Class PE is “still not top 3,” it's still a crazy premium pair that follows in the footsteps of the UNC and original First Class AJ4. The Bison’s navy color palette is applied to the premium nubuck upper and TPU netting on the midfoot and tongue, while a slightly different shade is applied to the pebbled leather mudguard and tongue tag. Metallic gold accents appear on the added Howard-branded and Jumpman-laden hang tag, the HU-branded lace dubrae, and the Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel.

In these depictions of Michael Jordan dunking, the ball in his hand has been turned into a diamond, with an actual crystal adorning the design. Inside are more nods to Howard, with the reverse of the tongue tag replacing the usual Air Jordan label with a red-and-navy Howard tag. At the same time, the navy insole adds to the premium finish via its quilted pattern. Underfoot, the sneaker features a navy and white Air Jordan 4 midsole paired with a white rubber outsole.

Unfortunately, the Air Jordan 4 Retro Howard Bisons First Class PE will be exclusive to student-athletes at the University of Howard.
