While things have been quiet on the Air Jordan 7 front, 2022 is the 30th Anniversary of the silhouette. An all-new “Shimmer” edition kicked things off, with the return of the “Citrus” and “Cardinal” pairs on the way. We even have a highly anticipated collab from Bephies Beauty Supply that was recently unveiled. All things considered, the AJ 7 has taken a back seat for much of the year.
While previous anniversary years usually conjure up numerous new releases, a few collabs, and some OG returns, the 30th Anniversary of the AJ 7 will see a short release. This practice is also looking to follow suit in 2023 when the Air Jordan 8 celebrates its 30th Anniversary. But before we get into next year, Jordan Brand has more Air Jordan 7 Retros on the way, including this “Afrobeats” edition.
The Air Jordan 7 Retro SE “Afrobeats” draws inspiration from the West African musical genre, that combines chanted vocals, complex intersecting rhythms and percussion, with American jazz, funk, and soul. Coming in vachetta tan, black, taxi, dark concord, and fire red, this AJ 7 sports an all-leather upper in vachetta tan, with the Jumpman logo on the collar and special graphics embossed throughout. This graphic also comes to life on the inner bootie. Breaking up the all-vachetta tan upper is black accents via the laces, lining, midsole, and outsole. Concord Purple and taxi yellow hits on the midsole, Nike Air branding on the back heel, and multi-color hits on the outsole finish things off.
The Air Jordan 7 Retro Afrobeats is set to release in October 10th, 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select Jordan Brand retailers worldwide, both in-store and online. Coming in men’s and gradeschool sizing, men’s pairs will retail for $210.
