Coming off the controversial release of the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Retro "Freeze Out," Marcus Jordan and Trophy Room Store are back with a Dream Team inspired Air Jordan 7 Retro.
Taking design inspiration from the original Air Jordan 7 "Olympic" and the story of the Greatest Game Nobody Ever Saw, the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7 Retro comes in an obsidian, metallic gold, and true red colorway. Starting with the upper, the red underlays and cream overlays are dressed in premium suede. This is paired with obsidian and metallic gold accents throughout. Obsidian can be found via the laces, Neoprene tongue, back heel tab, and translucent hits on the outsole. What really makes the Trophy Room x AJ 7 stand out is the detailing. Metallic Gold lace loops are paired with the Jumpman logo on the ankle and custom branding on the back heels, with Trophy Room on the left and MJ's Olympic jersey number "9" on the right. A multi-colored back heel pull tab is present, representing the Barcelona Olympics.
Tying back specifically to the "Greatest Game" is the phrase "New Sheriff In Town," which to those of you who watched The Last Dance know that it is a quote that Michael Jordan famously stated after the the Dream Team was assembled and had their first practice. More of this story is shown off via the badge on the right shoes insole, reading "The Greatest Game Ever, Monte Carlo." Trophy Room branding with their signature motto "Welcome To The Family" along with the year 1992 to represent the theme can be found on the left shoes insole badge. Speaking of the insoles, they come custom printed in a multi-colored zig-zag design taken from the tongue of the original AJ 7. Finishing the sneaker off is Michael Jordan's signature debossed on the heels.
The packing not only completes the design but also elevates things to another level. The sneakers come housed in a special OG-style box, complete with Nike Air, Jumpman, and Trophy Room branding, respectively. One of the TR logos on the box is even outfitted in red, white, and blue, a direct nod to the US national colors. Inside the box you'll find "June 22, 1992" in the upper left hand corner of the boxtop, representing the date the Greatest Game Nobody Ever Saw went down, (however, the date is incorrect as the game actually went down a month later, on July 22nd.) "Monte Carlo, Monaco" in the top right, the location of the infamous practice, and the quote "New Sheriff In Town" directly in the middle. The inside of the box is even printed to resemble a basketball court, complete with Trophy Room's logo at center court. A dual branded clipboard is included with a tear-away sheet of paper showcasing coaches notes underneath. Three sets of gold tipped laces, red, white, and blue bring it altogether for the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7 Retro.
