Originally set to release as a part of Jordan Brand’s Holiday 2021 Collection, the Air Jordan 9 Retro “Chile Red” was delayed until 2022 due to supply chain issues. Since its first delay, this colorway has seen numerous date changes. It has gone from a spring release to a summer drop. Nonetheless, we will still be able to get our hands on the Air Jordan 9 Retro “Chile Red” in 2022.
Coming in Chile Red and black, this pair looks like it could’ve been an alternate colorway made for MJ to wear during the AJ 9s original run from 1993-94. Channeling Chicago Bulls vibes, the unfortunate part about that is Michael Jordan was retired and now pursuing a professional MLB career in the Chicago White Sox organization. Luckily for us MJ came back to the NBA in 1995 and the rest is history. Now, back to the kicks. This Air Jordan 9 Retro ditches the signature leather and suede for a quilted stitched upper with patent leather detailing. Black accents throughout and a glossy midsole complete the look.
The Air Jordan 9 Retro Chile Red is set to release on May 7th, 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select Jordan Brand retailers worldwide in-store and online. Coming in men’s and gradeschool sizing, men’s pairs will retail for $200. Looking for a full rundown on the Jordan 9 silhouette?
