In April last year, Converse gave Olympic medalist and professional skateboarder Alexis Sablone her signature sneaker with the brand the Converse CONS AS-1. Since then, her signature sneaker has been a steady part of Converse's release calendar. Converse's parent company, Nike, has employed Sablone to collaborate on the SB Dunk Low, as Sablone has teased this upcoming project on her Instagram.
Alexis Sablone's take on the Nike SB Dunk Low is a testament to Sablone's unique aesthetic and Nike SB's commitment to skateboarding excellence. The sneaker features a distinctive textured overlay reminiscent of a turtle's surface, offering a tactile experience and visual depth similar to the recently released Dunk Low Urban Landscape. The sneaker's color scheme is equally thoughtful, with white leather panels starkly contrasting the green textured overlays. Green laces complement the green suede Swoosh, while a secondary set of purple laces allows for customization, matching the hidden hue beneath the textured layer. Underneath, the sneaker is grounded by an eggshell rubber midsole, paired with a green outsole that completes the design's cohesive color story.
Alongside the SB Dunk Low, Sablone has designed a special colorway for her AS-1 Pro model with Converse that utilizes similar details and motifs. The same chameleon-inspired texture and camo liners are present while also featuring wear-away leather.
The Alexis Sablone x Nike SB Dunk Low and Converse CONS AS-1 Pro Chameleon will be released in a two-pack featuring both sneakers on August 22, 2024, via select skate shops. The two pairs will be released individually on August 29 via Nike SNKRS. Available in full-family sizing, adult pairs of the SB Dunk will retail for $135, while PS and TD pairs will be priced at $90 and $75, respectively.
