2024 was arguably Asics’ year. The Japanese-based footwear brand emerged as a leader in the mesh runner and techy sneaker space, with heritage models like the Gel-Kayano 14, GT-2160, Gel-1130, and more becoming staples in street fashion. For its Kayano series, Asics has tapped multiple collaborators during the year to bring their spin to the sneaker, continuing this trend into 2025 with a project with French luxury label A.P.C.
Leaning into the neutral aesthetic, A.P.C. and Asics are both known for the duo’s collaborative Gel-Kayano 14, which comes with a white and metallic silver palette and is elevated by material upgrades. A waffle mesh weave is present on the toebox, midfoot, and heel, all of which come in a clean white hue. Leather paneling along the toebox and eyestays come in greyish-silver hues, the latter hosting a two-tone white and silver set of rope laces.
Regarding branding, A.P.C. keeps the changes subtle, combining Asics’ “A” symbol into its logo along the lace dubrae and heel tab and keeping the standard tiger stripes and Asics logos on the rest of the upper. Each of these branding details, sans the lace dubrae, continue the metallic silver hues, the tiger stripes especially as a metallic sheen is present on the logo. Underfoot, the Gel-Kayano 14 retains its usual tooling and features white foam, metallic silver Gel inserts, and a gum rubber outsole.
The A.P.C. x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 will release in April 2025 through A.P.C., Asics, and select retailers online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
