Major League Soccer (MLS) and adidas signed a six-year $830 million extension that will see The Three Stripes remain the league’s supplier of new kits in February 2023. Since then, we’ve seen adidas produce multiple kits for each team and collaborate with local skate shops across various cities that host MLS teams. Last year, Orchard and No-Comply worked on adidas collabs with their regional MLS team, and this year, we have already seen Familia’s Minnesota United FC Gazelle. Joining Familia will be Charlotte-based skate shop Black Sheep, launching a Samba ADV alongside Charlotte FC.
Upgraded to handle skateboarding needs, this Samba ADV comes primarily in black tumbled leather on its base. Above this are smooth black leather panels along the T-shaped toebox overlay, the vamp, eyestays, collar, and heel. A gradient Three Stripes in Charlotte FC’s colors comes placed on the midfoot alongside metallic silver Black Sheep text, replacing the usual Samba logo. More blue for the local soccer team finds its home on the tongue tag, but the most direct nod for Charlotte FC comes along the lateral heel with a debossed crown logo. Final details include the Black Sheep and adidas branding on the insole and a blacked-out rubber midsole and outsole.
The Black Sheep x Charlotte FC x adidas Samba ADV will release on September 21, 2024, through Black Sheep, adidas, and select retailers online and in-store.
