In a thrilling display of creativity and design prowess, adidas launched the Consortium Cup in 2023, inviting sixteen of its top retail partners to compete in a sneaker design contest. The challenge was met with various imaginative concepts, and European-based BSTN reworked the Samba with a new material makeover. Alongside BSTN, Nice Kicks, Sneaker Politics, and Extra Butter will all get exclusive adidas Samba colorways.
The BSTN x adidas Samba Consortium Cup stays true to the Samba's revered aesthetics while introducing new materials for a contemporary twist. This special edition maintains the classic White Black colorway but elevates the sneaker with a bold mix of textures. The toe box, traditionally in suede, is revamped in sleek patent leather, giving the shoe a glossy, refined look.
The base layer is crafted from robust, heavy-duty mesh, ensuring durability and breathability. The Three Stripes along the side are rendered in soft suede with eye-catching serrated edges, adding a touch of elegance to the design. The tongue is adorned with a luxurious chenille logo, enhancing the shoe's premium feel. At the back, a TPU heel tab adds a modern element, while the sole unit is finished with a dark gum rubber, perfectly complementing the overall design.
The BSTN x adidas Samba Consortium Cup will release November 14, 2023, via BSTN, and on November 22, via adidas and select retailers online and in-store.
