Caroline Hu’s ascension in the fashion world came quickly as the designer, who trained at the illustrious Central Saint Martins College, was a semi-finalist for the LVMH Prize and the inaugural winner of the BoF China Prize, all within the first five years of her label’s founding. She has now enjoyed working with adidas in the collaborative footwear space, launching her take on the adidas Samba in May 2024. While we’re still awaiting the launch of her Spring 2025 collection, featuring pairs like the SL 72 and Superstar, she’s revisiting the Samba OG in three new colorways.

The designer’s signature 3D ruffle aesthetic is applied to the silhouette, with the silky satin taking on a monochromatic finish on the three colorways: Power Red, Dark Blue, and Silver Metallic. Aside from the ruffled upper, which features frayed edges to give it a hand-made look, we see leather details grace the contrasting Three Stripes on the midfoot. Caroline Hu makes her presence known via the co-branded tongue label, featuring a woven finish in a contrasting hue and the co-branded logo on the tonal insole.

Laces are also redone and looped horizontally instead of using the traditional crisscross setup. Back on the heel, we see a tonal leather panel featuring extra stitching details that match the rest of the upper. Tonal gum rubber midsole and outsole finish the design.

The Caroline Hu x adidas Samba OG Satin Pack W will release in May 2025 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be revealed.
