Coco Gauff’s New Balance Coco Delray Honors The City That Shaped Her
Published
At just 20 years old, Coco Gauff has already achieved what many take decades to achieve. She was at one point ranked the number 2 in singles (currently 3) and number 1 in doubles by the WTA, has won nine WTA Tour singles titles, including the US Open in 2023 and French Open in 2024, and has launched two signature sneakers with New Balance, the CG1 and CG2. Continuing her journey in the footwear world, Gauff has introduced her third sneaker, albeit a takedown model, dubbed the Coco Delray, honoring the town where she grew up.
“I’m incredibly proud to launch the new Coco Delray because it’s more than just a tennis shoe – it represents an opportunity to broaden access to those interested in playing the game and will have a positive cultural impact for generations to come,” says Coco Gauff. “Delray Beach helped spark my tennis journey, so it’s special to me to tell the story of this community that influenced exactly why I love this sport."
In the campaign video for the launch of the Coco Delray, in which New Balance collaborator Joe Freshgoods had significant involvement, Gauff’s grandmother Yvonne tells the story of Coco’s upbringing in Delray Beach, playing on the courts at Pompey Park and the community that supported her throughout her life. “Our hope with the Coco Delray is to emphasize access to sport for all. It means a lot to Coco that anyone who wants to play tennis should be able to pick up a racquet and play,” says Evan Zeder, New Balance Head of Tennis Sports Marketing. “The Coco Delray represents her ongoing commitment to promoting this inclusivity within the sport, starting in her own backyard.”
As for the model itself, it takes a lower cut compared to her New Balance Coco CG2 and features ‘90s basketball and tennis shoe-inspired aesthetics. Breathable diamond mesh is used on the base layer, with fused TPU on the toe and tumbled leather on the midfoot, lower eyelet, and heel, adding durability. Coco Gauff branding is displayed on the tongue tag and insole, while New Balance branding finds a home on the vamp, midfoot, and tongue tag.
The New Balance Coco Delray will debut in two Miami Open-inspired colorways, one for men in NB Navy and a women’s pair in Parchment, on March 13, 2025, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store for $110. Throughout 2025, expect to see the new Coco Delray colorways launch alongside her signature sneaker, the CG2.
