Blending Comme des Garcons's penchant for avant-garde design with New Balance's steadfast devotion to functionality and comfort, the pair present two distinct interpretations of the New Balance 610 for the Spring/Summer 2024 season.
The first rendition stays true to the 610's original construction, combining mesh and suede materials in a classic grey finish. This monotone approach is balanced by the distinctive touch of CDG branding replacing the usual New Balance text on the tongue and insole in black. The traditional "N" logo and additional New Balance identifiers remain. A tonal foam midsole and lugged outsole round out the design.
The second iteration was designed by New Balance's Tokyo Design Studio and presents a strikingly different aesthetic. This laceless version of the 610 incorporates mesh, nubuck, suede, and neoprene in its construction and is entirely dressed in black. The midsole and outsole also adhere to the all-black palette, contributing to the sleek and streamlined aesthetic. This same model was previously leaked online earlier in the year.
The Commes des Garcons x New Balance 610 Pack is slated for a Spring/Summer 2024 release through New Balance, Dover Street Market, and select retailers. The retail price is currently to be announced.
