Golf has long been seen as a sport for the old and wealthy, and for an extended period of its history, it was exclusionary to those who didn’t fit a certain bill. Today, the game of golf is much more open to those considered “outsiders” in the past, with brands like Eastside Golf championing this new mentality for the sport. Eastside come together with Jordan Brand multiple times over the last few years, including on the Jordan 12 Low, Jordan 4 Golf, Air Jordan 1 Low, and Air Jordan 1 High Golf. However, Eastside Golf is preparing to launch its first collection with Nike Sportswear, as teased by the brand on social media.
While the brand’s teaser does nothing more than confirm we’ll see an Eastside Golf x Nike Collection shortly, Sole Retriever can confirm that the duo is working on two golf-ready sneakers in the same white, gold, cool grey, and pure platinum color palette. One pair, the Air Zoom Victory Tour 3, is a more traditional golf sneaker under Nike’s roster of golf shoes, featuring an internal strap that stretches across your foot and conforms to its shape, an old-school look with a full-grain leather upper, and a grippy Tour Flex Pro spikes from Softspikes offer excellent traction on the green.
The second pair in the collection will be the Air Max 1 ‘86 Golf, a retooled version of the original “Big Bubble” design of the Air Max 1 that was revived in 2023. Previous pairs have maintained similar construction to a typical Air Max 1, with the outsole retooled with a spikeless design that is good for all 18 holes.
Both pairs feature a first for Nike golf shoes, removable Swooshes, with three double-sided logos included in the packaging. The six colors include maroon and white, nodding to Morehouse College, blue and white for Spelman College, a mirrored Swosh to reflect how you see yourself in the game, a dimpled Swoosh that nods to the dimples on a golf ball, a gold Swoosh for the gold chain in the Eastside Golf logo, and a chenille Swoosh for Eastside Golf's signature sweater designs. Shoelaces come embossed with the phrase "Everyone's Game. Be Authentic," a nod to the collection's overarching theme.
Eastside Golf's goal with this collection is the same as its mission as a brand: to inspire the culture and celebrate golf's ability to inspire greatness. As part of the launch, Eastside Golf has teamed up with Shopify to host a pop-up in NYC featuring exclusive giveaways and items, including Eastside Golf-branded Bridgestone golf balls and a New Era snapback collab. 100 pairs of the two shoes from the collaboration will be given away during the event, which runs from September 13 - 15th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at 131 Greene St.
“Fashion, culture and community are at the heart of everything we do. We are out to change both the cultural conversation around golf and the perception of the sport to reinforce that this is a game where you can show up as your authentic self, no matter who you are or where you come from,” said Olajuwon Ajanaku, founder and creative director of Eastside Golf. “The Everyone’s Game collection reflects our belief that everyone should feel confident and welcome on the course. This is your game – remember that.”
The Eastside Golf x Nike Golf Collection was originally supposed to release on October 4, 2024, through Eastside Golf and on October 7 via Nike. However, shipping delays have pushed the release back to December 6, 2024. Available in men’s sizing, the footwear is priced at $210 for the Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 and $180 for the Air Max 1 ‘86 OG Golf. On top of the footwear, apparel, and accessories will be released.
