Celebrating a decade of innovative collaborations, END. and adidas SPZL join forces for the first time to unveil the By the Sea Collection. This 11-piece capsule, inspired by the iconic British seaside town, pays homage to the cultural heritage of both the retailer and adidas SPZL. Founded by Gary Aspden in 2014, adidas SPZL has consistently reimagined classic adidas designs for the modern era, blending vintage aesthetics with contemporary styles.
The By The Sea Collection features three revitalized footwear classics, each with a distinct twist on traditional SPZL design. The Moscrop 2 SPZL returns in a sandy colorway, combining Cordura uppers with pigskin suede overlays. This model draws inspiration from the adidas Raider and the Argentinian-made adidas Infinity, incorporating the latter's distinctive Dellinger Web Sole. The Wilsy SPZL, another fan favorite, appears in a Chalk White and Tribe Green palette, featuring nubuck uppers and tonal mesh panels that offer a vintage sportswear aesthetic. Completing the footwear trio, the Samba Deco SPZL presents a modern take on a classic silhouette with navy-blue pigskin suede and Seaweed Green leather Three Stripes.
In addition to the footwear, the collection includes a range of apparel and accessories that reflect adidas' enduring legacy in sportswear. The Calavadella Jacket, named after an idyllic cove in Ibiza, is crafted from vibrant Tribe Green recycled polyester—this piece and the Track Top and Track Pants in Cardboard brown showcase adidas' rich athletic heritage. The apparel selection is rounded off with the Meanwood Polo Shirt and two jersey t-shirts featuring END. branding, and two headwear pieces, a Bucket Hat and a Cap, echoing the collection's signature color palette.
Gary Aspden shared his excitement about the upcoming collection: "With any collaborations we do with adidas SPZL there needs to be a good reason for them to exist. They are often underpinned by strong existing relationships and this collaboration with END. most definitely has that. Given the level of support that END. have loyally shown to the SPZL range since the very beginning it felt right to finally acknowledge that with a product pack as part of the SPZL tenth anniversary celebrations. END. brought their 'By the Sea' story/concept to us and we gave them potential options to work with on a selection of archival SPZL silhouettes from over the past decade. Once they made their product choices we worked collaboratively with discussions at every stage of the design process."
The END. x adidas SPZL By The Sea collection will release on August 2, 2024, via END. Newcastle, and on August 9, 2024, via END. online and in-store in London, Manchester, Milan, and Glasgow.
