The latest MLS club to celebrate using a classic model, Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), has joined with kit supplier adidas and local skate shop Familia to launch a bright and vibrant iteration of the Gazelle ADV. The streets of Minneapolis have long been a haven for street skaters. Their presence is ever-constant against the backdrop of urban evolution and change, with new rails and ledges appearing all the time alongside established skate parks like the Elliot Skate Plaza. Local skate brand Familia has an indoor skate park that is said to be one of the best in the Northern United States. Over the past 15 years, local skaters have visited Familia HQ to purchase their fits and skateboarding needs.
With this bridge to street culture in mind, both The Brand With The Three Stripes, Familia, and MNUFC wanted to establish a connection, and the choice of silhouette reflects that. Updated and adapted several times, the adidas Gazelle ADV is the skate version of the classic silhouette. A double-layered toebox combined with double stitching applied to the lace stay improves durability, with higher foxing and honeycomb-style patterns underfoot for better traction. These upgrades also make the sneaker ideal for fans who spend their weekends jumping around in the stadiums with thousands of others cheering on their soccer team.
The Familia x MNUFC x adidas Gazelle ADV arrives fully resplendent and adorned with a smooth sky blue suede upper. Three Stripes branding on the sides is crafted from cloud white leather, accompanied by debossed MNUFC lettering running parallel. A ribbed white tongue is in place, topped with a Trefoil logo in black, and crossed by white laces. To the rear, a black leather heel tab is seen with the Familia branding, while the insoles feature dual Familia and adidas branding. A white sole sits underfoot to complete the look.
The Familia x MNUFC x adidas Gazelle ADV will release on September 15, 2024, through adidas, Familia, and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men's sizing, retail is TBD.
