New Balance has been on a roll, digging deep into its archives to reintroduce classic models with a modern twist. The T500, originally a performance tennis sneaker, has seen a resurgence thanks to collaborations with influential brands like Aime Leon Dore and now the Danish fashion house GANNI. This marks the third collaboration between GANNI and New Balance, following their successful projects on the 2002R and 1906R models.
Offering a fresh and eco-conscious take on the vintage silhouette, the GANNI x New Balance T500 retains the clean, understated aesthetic, making the silhouette a timeless staple. This rendition features a 100% polyester mesh base, providing breathability and lightweight comfort, paired with synthetic leather overlays on the mudguard, midfoot, and heel for added durability. The entire upper is bathed in a subtle cream hue, giving the sneaker a refined, monochromatic look. However, GANNI’s playful touch is evident in the details, such as the bright yellow GANNI text on the tongue and the metallic silver lace charms—one with an NB logo and the other with a custom GANNI design. Leopard print accents on the heel tab and insole inject a bit of flair, contrasting with the otherwise tonal design. Completing the look is a recycled rubber midsole and outsole, aligning with GANNI’s commitment to sustainability.
The GANNI x New Balance T500 will release on September 20, 2024, exclusively through GANNI’s online store. The sneaker will be available in unisex sizing, with a retail price set at $150.
