The story of Hartcopy, founded by Timothy Suen in 2020, is a modern testament to how passion projects can evolve into influential platforms in the sneaker world. What began as a modest sneaker archive Instagram page has become a significant presence, amassing hundreds of thousands of followers and branching out into publishing with a printed book that recaps the best sneaker releases annually. This impressive trajectory has led to an exciting milestone: a collaboration with adidas.
Reimagining the adidas BW Army, a classic silhouette that can trace its root to the German army in the ‘70s, Hartcopy brings a clean and refined aesthetic, paying homage to its military origins while infusing contemporary sensibilities. The upper boasts an all-white tumbled leather, exuding an air of sophistication and understated style. The subtle yet impactful addition of red stitching makes this design stand out.
This stitching is strategically placed, appearing near the top eyestay on the right shoe and near the toe on the left shoe, creating an asymmetrical yet harmonious look. The sneaker's interior is a testament to the collaboration, featuring split branding between adidas and Hartcopy. This detail not only signifies the partnership but also adds an element of exclusivity to the design. A gum rubber sole unit, a nod to the timeless and durable design of classic adidas sneakers, anchors the sneaker.
The Hartcopy x adidas BW Army was originally limited to 1,000 pairs and was released on February 19, 2024. Following this early release, a global launch will take place via adidas on December 6, 2024.
