The TOKYO ENERGY series from adidas highlights the essence of Tokyo culture and partners with Hikari Shibata on the Gazelle Indoor. The highly renowned photographer is also known to have successfully turned her hand to being a designer, model, and DJ, gaining an impressive fanbase who look forward to her projects religiously. Such is her status as part of Japan's darling elite; the artist has a following of nearly 300k on Instagram and is featured regularly in celebrity gossip forums in the Japanese capital.
Launched by adidas a couple of years back, the TOKYO ENERGY series has starred some impressive collaborations so far, including previous offerings from Hikari herself, who launched a pack with two Gazelle Indoors in June 2023 and a five-shoe collection at the end of last year. This upcoming collaboration is highly anticipated and will keep the resurgent streak of the Gazelle Indoor going. The model has enjoyed massive success after collaborators such as Sean Wotherspoon and Ronnie Fieg chose to work with the silhouette.
Presented here with a core white based-upper of leather, premium cream white suede overlays appear via the heel tab, lace stay, and T-toe. Night Grey contrasts with the Three Stripes on the sides, done in double embroidery. Gazelle in gold foil runs parallel to the Stripes on the sides, while more embroidery is utilized on the back heel to denote the Trefoil logo. The aesthetic is completed with a woven tongue tag, a burgundy leather sockliner, and a gum-colored rubber sole.
The Hikari Shibata x adidas Gazelle Indoor will release in Holiday 2024, through adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men's sizing, retail is TBD. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app for updates on the latest from adidas and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
