Spending years in the sneaker industry working on the retail side of things, Hikmet Sugoer took the sneakerverse by storm when the Ben & Jerry’s x Nike SB Dunk Low was on the horizon once he posted a video online of him eating ice cream out of the highly coveted sneakers. Prior to this, Sugoer had years of experience with German-based retailer SoleBox and created his own brand, SONRA, that produces high-quality and limited footwear options. Now after years of releasing his inline products, Hikmet has landed a collaboration with Mizuno on the Cotender silhouette and takes inspiration from “Snowdrop” flowers for its colorway.
Much like the titular flower, the model comes covered in shades of white with chlorophyll-like greens taking over the midfoot and laces of the upper. Stark whites take over the mesh toebox, tongue, and heel while greyish-white suede appears on the mudguard and heel overlays. Mizuno’s logo and the surrounding panels near the midfoot come in a light green tint while the tongue above features Hekmet’s “JJ” logo that is often found on his SONRA releases. Leather lining for the internals adds luxe vibes to the silhouette while the design is rounded out by a white foam midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
The Hikmet x Mizuno Contender Snowdrop is set to release on February 17th, 2023 through SONRA’s website. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at €140 (Approx $150 USD).
