Reebok has announced an exciting collaboration with the Los Angeles-based design studio HYMNE. This partnership brings a fresh and structural re-exploration to two of Reebok’s most iconic sneakers: the Classic Nylon Plus and the Club C. This highly anticipated collection promises to blend HYMNE’s unique design language with Reebok’s classic silhouettes, offering a modern twist on beloved favorites.
HYMNE, founded in 2016 by designer and creative director Jide Osifeso, is renowned for its commitment to high-quality materials, subversive culture, and modern craftsmanship. Initially launched as a design studio, HYMNE will evolve into a full-fledged collection by 2019, with Osifeso also contributing to Reebok’s creative direction. This collaboration marks a significant milestone, merging two brands of personal significance for Osifeso. "It really is a full circle moment," commented Osifeso. "Bringing together two brands that mean a lot to me - it’s a special project."
The first installment of this ongoing collaboration features the Classic Nylon Plus and the Club C, reimagined through HYMNE’s distinctive lens. The Classic Nylon Plus now boasts a completely rebuilt upper, utilizing a knit base for the first time. Extruding molded foam elements create a non-conventional, disproportionate shape emblematic of many HYMNE designs. This reimagined runner combines archival elements with avant-garde aesthetics, making it a standout piece in any sneaker collection.
Similarly, HYMNE’s iteration of the Club C strips down and rebuilds the iconic tennis shoe with a mixed leather and suede upper. The same unique molded foam elements seen on the Classic Nylon Plus are incorporated, further emphasizing the theme of structural re-creation. This innovative design approach transforms the traditional Club C into a contemporary masterpiece, suitable for both the streets and the runway.
The HYMNE x Reebok Collection will release on May 28, 2024, exclusively through HYMNE’s online store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
