Chicago-based designer Joe Freshgoods continues to redefine collaboration in the sneaker world with his partnership with New Balance. Known for his deeply personal and culturally rich storytelling through footwear, JFG (real name Joesph Robinson) has carved out a niche that celebrates community narratives and premium craftsmanship. Following previews of his upcoming New Balance 1000 collab, which helps revive the late ‘90s sneaker, Sole Retriever can confirm that the designer will tackle the New Balance Made in USA 990v6.
This collaboration comes on the heels of Freshgoods' previous successes with New Balance, including the "No Emotions Are Emotions," "Outside Clothes," “Inside Voices,” “Performance Art,” and “Stuntman” campaigns, which have been lauded for their innovative designs and heartfelt homages to his Chicago roots. The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance Made in USA 990v6 Blue is expected to continue this tradition, offering a fresh perspective on the 990v6. Similar to his Red colorway, this Blue pair features an all-over blue finish from top to bottom and contains premium, high-quality materials. JFG branding is located on the heel, while the Made in USA logo is redesigned to stay "Made For Us."
The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance Made in USA 990v6 Prom Blue will release August 1, 2024, via an EQL raffle on Joe Freshgoods' website. A FCFS release on Joe's website and his Every Now and Then storefront will take place on Saturday, August 3. New Balance and select retailers will drop the pair on August 9. Prior to this, the pair released in Paris, France, on July 27 at Joe's Friend Named Cousin art exhibit. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $220.
