Many look back at the history of the Air Jordan lineup and think it began with the iconic Air Jordan 1. However, it truly started with the Nike Air Ship as this was the original sneaker banned by the NBA when MJ took the court in its “Bred” colorway. Since its revival began in 2020, Jordan Brand has taken over the model's release, updated its sole unit to feature tooling for the AJ 1, and released various two-tone colorways. Following up on the reveal of Nigel Sylvester’s take on the silhouette and joining the Summer Release Calendar, the Jordan Air Ship PE SP “Tech Grey” has received its first look.
Keeping the same construction as Sylvester’s “Bike Air” pair, the model swaps out the usual all-leather build for accenting hits of tech grey suede. The rest of the sneaker sports a white leather build with tonal stitching details, adding depth to the simple upper. White laces match these overlays and contrast the creamy-shaded nylon tongue that hosts Nike Air branding in grey. Though not visible in this photo, Nike Air text should land on the spine of the heel tab and contrast the grey suede surrounding it. Rounding out the look is an AJ 1 midsole in white paired with a gunsmoke-shaded rubber outsole.
The Jordan Air Ship PE SP Tech Grey will release June 7, 2023 through select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. A wider drop will follow in July. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
