Jordan Brand Helps Luka Doncic Say Goodbye to Dallas in New Advert

Still from the new Luka Doncic Jordan ad

The Luka Doncic trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers shocked the NBA world and the entire internet. Discussion on this once-in-a-lifetime trade made it to every corner of the ‘net, spawning conspiracy theories and making armchair GMs out of everyone on X and Instagram. While we’ve had a few weeks to adjust to seeing Luka not in a Mavs uniform, Jordan Brand has just dropped an advertisement ahead of Doncic’s first game against his former team.

In the ad spot, one of Luka’s favorite cars, a Koenigsegg Regera, is a vibrant purple (reminiscent of the Luka 3 Midnight Racer) with the Texas license plate featuring his number 77. Someone in a hoodie and sweatpants steps into the frame as the track All My Ex’s Live in Texas by George Strait begins to play; they bend down and replace the Texas plate with a California plate in Los Angeles Lakers colors. After the man enters the car, Jordan Brand displays the text “Full tank. No Mercy” in the same red font used in the label’s recent marketing campaigns.

Since joining the Lakers, Doncic has played in four NBA games, averaging 19 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. It's a solid stat line for an NBA player, although Doncic is held to a much higher standard as one of the game’s biggest stars. Many have been critical of Doncic’s output since landing in LA, but only time will tell if he’ll gel with LeBron and the rest of the organization.
