Hybrid sneakers, while on paper sound like a great idea, typically don’t fly off the shelves. Many consumers will look at these models as “the poor man's XYZ” and brush off the history and work that went into the sneaker. Those that remember the days after Michael Jordan’s retirement have fond memories of the Jordan Dub Zero (the first hybrid Jordan sneaker), the amalgamation of the Jordan 4, 6, 11, 12, 13, 15, and 20. Already spotted this year in classic colorways like “Legend Blue” and “Fire Red,” the latest color to hit the scene borrows heavily from the latter of the two, coming in “White Fire Red Black.”
Like the recent releases of the Dub Zero, this White Fire Red Black rendition returns with a patent and smooth leather upper, reminiscent of the Jordan 11 in terms of material and 13 based on its shape. Black patent leather wraps from the toebox back around to the heel with a white laser-etched leather featuring various Jordan models in cartoon form. Running up the black mesh tongue is a set of black laces, contrasting the red Jumpman branding and “T W O” embroidery in the center. Everyone’s favorite feature from the AJ 6, the heel spoiler, makes its return and comes in a silver/black color combo. For the AJ 4 midsole, a combo of white and red makes up the rubber portions while the outsole below comes in a white/black makeup.
The Jordan Dub Zero White Fire Red Black is set to release in the Spring of 2023 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in full family sizing, the retail price is set at $160 (men), $130 (GS), $80 (PS), and $60 (TD).
