The Dallas Mavericks and Luka Dončić have secured the fifth seed in the Western Conference of the NBA and are looking to take out the Clippers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. When Dončić takes the court on Sunday, he will be sporting his latest signature sneaker with Jordan Brand, the Jordan Luka 3. Previously, Sole Retriever confirmed that the model's Vapor Green colorway will be launched in Holiday 2024.
Luka Dončić's love for high-performance sports cars drives the design narrative of the Luka 3. The sneaker mirrors the attributes of a top-tier sports car, including the motor’s propulsive power and the chassis's control and agility. The shoe’s outsole features a generative herringbone pattern inspired by the traction of racing tires, which facilitates swift decelerations and accelerations akin to a high-speed car chase on the hardwood. Furthermore, the aesthetic elements of the Luka 3 draw direct inspiration from automotive designs. The pull tabs mimic the material of seat belts, while the wavy striations on the engineered textile upper are reminiscent of the visual effects of speeding vehicles.
Several key advancements build upon the foundations of its predecessor, the Luka 2. Central to the shoe's design is the evolved Isoplate technology, which has been fine-tuned to enable maximum agility and speed on the court. The lateral outrigger of the Isoplate has been widened, and strategic sections of the plate’s sidewall have been removed to reduce weight, enhancing the player’s ability to create separation from defenders rapidly.
Coupled with the Isoplate, the Luka 3 features full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam, ensuring a smooth heel-to-toe transition. This combination is tailored for explosive movements, particularly when accelerating from step-backs or attacking the basket. The design prioritizes not only forward motion but also lateral and diagonal agility, with a midsole system that effectively supports off-speed transitions.
In a significant stride toward environmental responsibility, every colorway of the Luka 3 achieves a Tier-2 sustainability score. This certification means that each pair comprises at least 20 percent recycled materials by weight, setting a new standard in the Luka sneaker line and reinforcing Nike's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.
The Jordan Luka 3 will debut in two colorways this July, Midnight Racer and Photo Finish. The Midnight Racer is exclusive to Europe and will be released on July 5, 2024, while the Photo Finish pair will be released globally on July 16, 2024, through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Available in full-family sizing, the sneaker will retail for $130 (men), $100 (GS), $80 (PS), and $60 (TD).
