Jordan Brand has a storied legacy of celebrating the past while simultaneously pushing boundaries. Outside of remastering the Air Jordan lineup over the years to more accurately reflect the OG shapes from certain silhouettes, fusion models incorporate details from various retro Js in one package. One of the latest such models, the Jordan MVP, is inspired by MJ’s first three-peat, during which he rocked the Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 7, and Air Jordan 8. For its latest colorway, a clean “Black University Blue” combo comes to fusion.
Featuring an all-black nubuck upper, the shoe's university blue accents steal the show. The Air Jordan 6 influence can be seen in the perforated details on the midfoot and tongue, while the embroidered Jumpman on the lateral collar, a signature design element of the Air Jordan 7, comes in the striking university blue. More features from the AJ7 are displayed via the lateral forefoot and quarter panels. The AJ8 the n makes its presence known via a university blue TPU overlay near the heel. The sockliner of the neoprene bootie and "Nike Air" mark on the heel also get a touch of this vibrant blue shade. The design is rounded out with an Air Jordan 6 midsole with additional university blue accents and outsole made up of black and semi-translucent blue.
The Jordan MVP Black University Blue will release this fall through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165.
