Fusion models from Jordan Brand may not garner the same attention as retros like the Air Jordan 1, but the label continues to press on with new iterations that bring several iconic models together. For its latest iteration of the Jordan MVP, which was recently revealed in a “Black University Blue” colorway, the OG Air Jordan 7 “Cardinal” serves as the primary source material.
The Jordan MVP features a mix of elements from the Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 7, and Air Jordan 8. An all-white leather upper sets the stage for accents in cardinal red and vivid orange. Design elements from the AJ6 are apparent in the perforated details on the midfoot and tongue. At the same time, the AJ7's influence is visible in the embroidered Jumpman on the lateral collar, adorned in cardinal red. Additional AJ7 details include the lateral forefoot and quarter panel overlays. The AJ8's presence is not to be missed, incorporated with the multi-color TPU overlay near the heel. For the sockliner of the neoprene bootie, vivid orange is present and provides extra contrast to this mainly white sneaker. Although most non-OG Jordans forgo Nike Air for a Jumpman logo on the heel, the MVP features the coveted Nike branding in black embroidery. Rounding out the design is the AJ6 midsole, featuring cardinal red accents paired with a cardinal red and semi-translucent blue outsole.
The Jordan MVP Cardinal Red will release this fall through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in full-family sizing, the retail price is set at $165 for men’s pairs.
