Russell Westbrook continues to leave a mark on and off the basketball court with the latest release from his Jordan Brand signature line, the Jordan One Take 5. In a touching tribute to his late friend Khelcey Barrs III, whom Westbrook has honored in previous models, including the Why Not 0.2 and Why Not 0.6, this new iteration combines personal homage with the performance-ready design that Westbrook's shoes are known for.
The Jordan One Take 5 Khelcey Barrs showcases a complex construction that balances aesthetics with functionality. The upper features a mix of materials, including mesh for breathability, suede for durability, and semi-transparent TPU for structural support, the latter placed across the mudguard and lower eyestays. The navy blue suede that adorns the medial lower eyestay and the heel overlays contrast the lighter blue seen on the mesh base and the leather panels along the lacing setup.
Special tributes to Khelcey Barrs are thoughtfully placed throughout the sneaker, including a KB logo on the right insole and another hidden behind a Velcro patch on the back heel, making it a personal piece for Westbrook and his fans. The design is completed with a white and green foam and rubber midsole and a durable white rubber outsole, ensuring the shoe stands up to the rigors of intense basketball play.
The Jordan One Take 5 Khelcey Barrs will release in Summer 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
