KAR L'Art De L'Automobile, the French streetwear label known for its automotive inspirations, first gained widespread attention in the sneaker world with its collaboration on the Salomon ACS Pro Advanced in 2022. This collaboration marked the brand as a serious player in the sneaker scene. Following a successful apparel capsule with Drake's NOCTA label, KAR L'Art De L'Automobile is set to return to its roots with Salomon for a new project. This time, the focus is on a two-pack of sneakers inspired by the legendary Porsche 911 GT1-98, which clinched victory at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans and marked the last time a street car won the race!
The new collaboration includes the Salomon Speedcross 3 and the XT-4 OG, sporting a color palette that draws directly from the iconic race car. The sneakers feature a mix of red, white, and blue hues, reflecting the Porsche 911 GT1-98’s livery. Each pair also boasts KAR L'Art De L'Automobile branding on the toe and medial side, adding a bespoke touch to these performance-focused models. Golden accents are strategically placed on the upper to elevate the overall aesthetic.
The Salomon Speedcross 3 and XT-4 OG retain their signature technical features, including the Quicklace system for easy and secure fitting. The upper construction ensures durability and support, while the midsole and grippy rubber outsole provide comfort and traction, making these sneakers as functional as they are stylish.
The KAR L'Art De L'Automobile x Salomon Porsche 911 GT1-98 will release just in time for the 24 Hours of Le Mans this Friday June 14th, 2024. The shoes and apparel will release via KAR L'Art De L'Automobile and possibly via Salomon and select retailers online and in-store.
