The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics UB9-S Gel-Kayano 20 Pack Releases October 2024

Bulgarian-born designer Kiko Kostadinov and his eponymous studio remain a pivotal part of Asics’ release calendar. Not only do we consistently receive new collaborative efforts from the duo, but Kiko has remained at the head of Asics’ SportStyle wing, helping develop inline collections and products. Following up on his UB8-S GT-2160 project, Kiko is moving on to the recently reemerging Gel-Kayano 20 for the UB9-S collection.

As has been the case with some of the more recent Kiko x Asics collections, these new Gel-Kayano 20s take inspiration from Interlaced Assemblages, Functional Utopias, and Mino Ceramics. A wide-spaced mesh is on the base layer, with a semi-translucent TPU pattern applied for reinforcement across the midfoot. Glossy colors on each pair are offset by metallic structures accentuating the double-layer mesh construction. Gel-Kayano branding is featured on the lateral heel, while FluidFit branding is near the lateral toe. Kiko’s influence is also found via the redesigned pull tab on the tongue and the stitched Asics tag on the insole. The foam midsole finishes the design with Gel cushioning and a tonal outsole.

The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics UB9-S Gel-Kayano 20 Pack, specifically the Crystal Pink and Vibrant Yellow colorways, will release on October 24, 2024, through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. The third colorway, Dark Grape, drops on October 31, 2024. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
