Ronnie Fieg and his Kith label have had the pleasure of working with about every major brand in the fashion industry over the last decade-plus. What has now become a yearly tradition, Fieg brings together various friends, family, and designers on what he dubs “Kith Trips” that inspire collections and collaborations. The latest? A fishing trip that featured Fieg and company rocking the upcoming Kith x Columbia PFG collection.
Kith x Columbia PFG Clothing Pieces
Marking the seventh collaboration between outwear brand Columbia and Kith, the former’s performance fishing gear (PFG) gets reworked through the lens of Kith. Maintaining its functional and technical construction, various silhouettes from Columbia PFG, including the Cool Creek Vest, Cool Creek Long Sleeve, Skeena Falls Jacket, Chuting Pant, and a series of windbreaker-like shirts come in a color palette that reflects Kith’s seasonal designs. These earthy tones and natural shades represent aquatic environments with greens matching seaweed and moss, while browns and blues reflect rocks/mud and the water/sky, respectively. Other pieces on the clothing side include graphics tees and shorts that don’t feature performance technology. However, they showcase a custom Kith Fishing Club logo.
Kith x Columbia PFG Accessories
Alongside the various clothing items that will keep any angler comfortable and ready for a long day on the line, accessories are present in a similar color palette to the clothing items. This includes Neck Gaiters, fishing gloves, hats, and a set of bags. Pieces such as the Backcast Catchalot maintains their cooling technology and sun protection while coming in a navy and dusty orange color palette.
A standout piece of this collaboration is the partnership with Oakley, the famous sunglasses maker, on two pairs of shades - the Frogskins and the M2 Frame XL. These two items feature Oakley’s Prizm technology that helps enhance color quality, contrast, and detail while hosting laser-etched Kith branding on the lens corner.
Kith x Columbia PFG Footwear
While not known for their footwear in the sneakerhead world, Columbia’s Newton Ridge and Breaksider Sandal silhouettes get the co-branded Kith treatment. For the Newton Ridge, we see a lightweight boot featuring waterproof materials on its upper paired with a Techlite midsole and Omni-Grip rubber outsole for all-day wear in rough conditions. The Breaksider Sandal is a classic hook and loop strap sandal with an EVA shock-absorbing midsole paired with a grippy rubber outsole.
The Kith x Columbia PFG Collection will be released on April 7th, 2023, through Kith online and in-store. Prices for the collection will range from $55 for caps to $245 for the Skeena Falls Jacket.
