Under the leadership of Ronnie Fieg, Kith has become synonymous with high-quality, fashion-forward collaborations. Fieg was appointed as the New York Knicks' first-ever Creative Director in 2022, and since then, we’ve seen Kith work on multiple projects with New York's iconic Madison Square Garden (MSG). This legendary venue, home to the Knicks and other major teams, was honored by Kith and Fieg with a New Balance 990v6 Made in USA collaboration that celebrated both the Knicks and Rangers. Now, expanding on this MSG theme, Kith and New Balance are set to release the 991v2 Made in UK Madison Square Garden, further solidifying their partnership and deepening the connection to New York's sports culture.
At the time of this article's original writing, images of Kith's upcoming New Balance 991v2 Made in UK Madison Square Garden had yet to emerge. However, Sole Retriever confirmed that the color palette includes shades such as Antarctica, ancient scroll, Castlerock, and scarlet ibis.
Three months after this news first broke, Ronnie Fieg teased the pair on his Twitter in the lead-up to Kith Night at the New York Knicks game at MSG on November 8. As expected, the pair features premium pigskin suede construction in a greyscale hue across the mudguard, midfoot panel, and heel overlay. Kith branding in blue replaces the 991 text in the branding window on the lateral heel, while the heel's v2 logo comes surrounded by Knicks orange. Moving to the N logo on the midfoot, we see more of this orange shade surrounding the silver logo. Underfoot, the FuelCell-cushioned midsole has a cream, white, and grey finish paired with a black outsole.
It is also possible, but not confirmed, that a second pair will be available as many Kith collaborations with New Balance feature a globally available pair and one exclusive to the retailer. There will be a second sneaker in this nod to MSG, as Kith is working on the New Balance Numeric 480.
The Kith x New Balance 991v2 Made in UK Madison Square Garden will release via early access for select members of Kith’s loyal program today, November 1, 2024. A wider release will occur next week, on November 4, exclusively via Kith online, their app, and in-store at their US flagship locations. A third drop is set for November 29 via New Balance.
