Individual designers in the high fashion space lending their hands to sportswear brands has been practiced for over a decade, though in recent years, the trend has taken off thanks to Virgil Abloh’s partnership with Nike. Another key collaborator for The Swoosh, who has ties to Abloh, is Matthew M. Williams, who has continually provided out-of-this-world designs with silhouettes like the MMW 5 Slide or Zoom 004. However, his latest work scales things back quite. Williams is adding premium details to his 1017 ALYX 9SM x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration.

There are a few changes to the standard AF1 silhouette as the mudguard’s panel wraps into the midfoot uninterrupted. Aside from this, construction remains traditional with an all-leather build across all-white and all-black color palettes. Silver accents are found on the Nike-branded tongue tag and heel on the white pair. Opposite this, black is seen on the tongue of the black pair and white on the heel—each sports custom ALYX silver lace dubraes.

The 1017 ALYX 9SM x Nike Air Force 1 Low Pack is set to release on December 15, 2023, through ALYX Studio, Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store.
