Melting Sadness, the brainchild of Zhang Quan, has gracefully ascended to becoming one of adidas' foremost collaborators in China, fashioning innovative sneaker designs that weave Quan's imaginative characters into each creation. For the spooky season this year, Melting Sadness submerges into the eerie aura of Halloween, bestowing the adidas Superstar with a supernatural makeover. Evolving the brand's rabbit character, Karoro, into a festive yet spooky human skeleton, this Halloween edition morphs traditional aesthetics into a ghostly spectacle, allowing both avid collectors and Halloween lovers to step into the season with a pair that artfully mingles playful fright with style.

The Melting Sadness x adidas Superstar Halloween converges classic design and whimsical modification with a black denim upper punctuated with removable bone details adorned along the iconic Three Stripes. Also detachable are the cotton-constructed rabbit ears perched upon the topmost eyestays and a petite tail affixed to the heel. Further skeletal embroidery creeps onto the heel section, complemented by a tan suede heel tab, which splits the Melting Sadnesses take on the Trefoil and traditional logo between the left and right sneaker. Grounding the ethereal design, a black rubber midsole, partially shrouded by denim on the lateral side, accompanies a semi-translucent black rubber outsole, which reveals a skeletal foot graphic, nodding to Karoro the rabbit in its spectral form.

Alongside this pair, we’re expecting a handful of Halloween sneakers from adidas, including a Harden Vol. 7, adidas Adimatic, and Forum Mod Low.

The Melting Sadness x adidas Superstar Halloween has already been released in China and will possibly be released in October 2023 through adidas and select retailers globally. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
