MRBAILEY (whose real name is Dan Bailey) has been an independent designer in the footwear space for years now and has finally been given a shot by a major brand to bring his naturally-infused design to life with adidas. Previously working on a prototype dubbed the OZLUCENT, the two have come together to create a sea life-inspired model based on the life cycle of jellyfish - the MRBAILEY x adidas OZMORPHIS “Black.”
Taking on the build of a high-top boot, the silhouette’s avant-garde design features the bottom half coming covered in a semi-translucent mesh material that obfuscates the sole unit and portions of the TPU and neoprene upper. What does remain visible is covered in black hues with the vamp and midfoot featuring nubuck and TPU overlays respectively. Along the tongue is a speed lacing system that can be tightened or loosened through a drawstring as well as a zipper that helps one get secured into the inner neoprene bootie. MRBAILEY branding is embossed into the lateral collar that gives off information about adidas and Bailey’s partnership thus far. Underfoot sits a rubber midsole and outsole, both of which come in black.
The MRBAILEY x adidas OZMORPHIS Black is set to release on February 9th, 2023 through adidas Confirmed and select retailers online and in-store, though an early access release will take place through mrbailey.co.uk in the coming days. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
