MSCHF, the Brooklyn-based art collective, has become synonymous with disruptive sneaker drops. They're set to stamp their unpredictable mark on Reebok's archives with a redesigned version of the Reebok Pump Omni Zone II, a sneaker that embodies both athleticism and 90's streetwear. Brendan Dunne of Complex reported that we should expect two colorways on the collaborative model. While Crocs worked with MSCHF on the art collective’s Big Yellow Boot, this marks the first instance where MSCHF has been granted permission to rework another brand's original design.
The reimagined Reebok Pump Omni Zone II from the initial factory photos retains its rich leather, soft suede, and TPU composition. However, a stark difference is the addition of multiple Pump buttons scattered across the sneaker's upper. Most of the upper is white with vibrant blues on the tongue, sockliner, and collar. The various Pump buttons all come in either yellow or orange, and contain “The Pump” and "The MSCHF" branding. Each of these Pump buttons actually will pump up various chambers within the sneaker, providing an even more secure and tailored fit. Rounding out the design is the "Boing Boing" branding on the heel tab and on the white midsole.
The MSCHF x Reebok Pump Omni Zone IX Pack will release September 27, 2023 through the MSCHF Sneakers App. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
